DESCRIPTION
Our Mathematician in Residence program is a fantastic way for students to explore modern applications of mathematics across various year groups and aptitudes. The program fits perfectly with schools looking to promote STEM careers by providing a vital connection between students’ coursework and real-world applications. In a typical residency we utilise maths lessons in the weekly schedule to allow time for the exploration of important areas in STEM careers via presentations and workshops. These slots can be for just one year level or multiple year levels depending on the size and availability of each school. There is also the option of running lunchtime sessions for smaller groups who have an interest in particular areas of mathematics. By the end of the residency students and teachers alike are energised about the potential of modern mathematics with the motivation for their current coursework made clear.
